During these 33 years, he worked in various regions of the UK, including the Channel Islands, advising on overall design and function of steam equipment for improving plant efficiency. Ultimately, as a Regional Engineer and Area Manager, he advised industrial users and specifying bodies about the proper application of steam equipment to existing systems and new ones in the design stages.
He became a Member of the Energy Institute (MEI) in September 1970 and was appointed a Chartered Engineer (CEng) in February 1972. In March 1989, he gained the title of European Engineer (Eur Ing). In October 2006 he was appointed a Fellow of the Energy Institute (FEI).

In particular, arranging on-site lectures and training to various process steam users, namely the food, drinks, pharmaceutical and leather Industries as well as hospital establishments, MOD and power stations.
Compiled from his experience in steam going back over some 35 years, he wrote The Definitive Steam Guide which consists of some 100 pages of typical steam applications and equipment generally associated with most major steam process plant sites. This practical guide is considered by senior engineers to be an essential addition to their libraries and an invaluable reference book for their engineers. Copies may be purchased in paper or hardback form via JGS Associates Limited directly www.steamguide.com.
He wrote a full technical article "Design of a steam distribution layout with associated equipment" for the Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM) which was published in the November 2005 issue of the Journal.
In October 2008 JGS Associates Limited received full accreditation from the Energy Institute as an Approved Training Provider covering all of the current grades and topics of training, which will be of immense value to senior engineers in the professional development of their engineering personnel.
